RASCALTON is an awesome band hailing from Glasgow.  Be sure to check out this super cool interview with Jack about his band and their experience breaking into the industry.

Hectic. Energetic. Fun.

RASCALTON’s journey so far happened pretty fast.  They went from just practicing and jamming out together to preforming at different venues.  The band is comprised of a group of friends from school that absolutely love what they do.  They played about four or five gigs before performing in London where they gained momentum and their music started to take off.  One of the first gigs they had was actually at Club Sabbath, which is where a lot of local bands perform, and was one of the first venues they sold out.

One of his favorite venues to perform in would have to be King Tut’s in Glasgow.  Speaking of Glasgow’s music scene, Jack states that it was revitalized within the last five years and is massive now.  He feels like the scene comes and goes in different places.  This is reflected in the different songs they produce since they lyrics tend to focus on everyday topics that we all experience.  In terms of their sound Jack believes it has changed and matured over the years which better reflects the path the band is hoping to take in the future.

Belief is a blessing, always a blessing and a curse.

One of RASCALTON’s favorite bands is The Clash.  Growing up bands like Oasis and the classic UK bands inspired them to learn their respective instruments.  Jack says that punk music is actually the genre he listens to the least.  On the other hand, he cites hip-hop as an inspiration since newer hip-hop is a little angrier, so a fine line established between hip-hop and punk.
Through the band’s music Jack hopes to represent everyday life and create a connection between the band and his fans.  Sometimes he feels like there are trends that happen in the industry and a lot of different bands come out that have this in-trend sound while the focus should instead be on the individuality of the artist.

A lot can happen in a year.
 
Next year he says the band will focus on creating more music videos since they currently only have one released for “Employee of the Month.”  He says it represents the repetition of a 9-5 job.  While trying to focus on the band’s music they are also working their everyday jobs, which increases the relatability prominent in their music.  By focusing more on their music and being a live band performing gigs they are able to do what they love.

The Frights is an awesome band whose raw sound and emotional connection shine through their music. The relatability of the topics portrayed in their songs creates this amazing experience.

When talking to Mikey about Hypochondriac, he mentioned that he didn’t try to write the songs unless he had an idea for them.  He would force himself to complete the song since he didn’t want to lose the thoughts he had.  After meeting with Zac Harper (from FIDLAR) in Long Island they worked on completing the album.  Following this, Mikey got together with the rest of his band and they recorded it.  The long process definitely paid off in creating an album that is as in-depth as Hypochondriac.

When discussing the album, Jeanine mentioned that her favorite song off of it was “Over It.”  Mikey said that he was looking for a punk riff for the song and he has Jordan who came up with the main riff.  Mikey mentioned that his favorite song to play off the album was definitely “Me We and I,” but the song he is the proudest of writing is “Of Age.” 

He was stumped when asked what his favorite lyric he had ever written was because he tends to write the music first without really focusing on the lyrics.  This is definitely a unique answer; it showcases the attention to detail in the composition process.

When asked about the band’s plan for the new decade, Mikey hopes that people still listen to their music and trade their thoughts on it and talk about it.  He believes that shows that they’ve made it.  As he said at the end of the interview, “It’s music, just have fun with it and don’t overthink.”

A year since graduating Wagner, Limage has big plans to keep producing and performing his music. Limage spoke to the WCBG about his music, his career and offers advice to get started in the music industry. ​

Hailing from Binghampton, NY, The Mudlarks consists of Eddie Compagnone (bass/guitar), James Baldassano (keyboard/trombone), Jeff Bagg (electric guitar), Jordan Finkelstein (drums) and Julie Quinn (guitar). The group performed at Wag-A-Roo 4: Tokyo Drift and became a definite crowd favorite. Afterwards, the band spoke out their music and other passions.  ​
